Brief Understanding of Terminator 2: Nearly 10 years have passed since Sarah Connor was targeted for termination by a cyborg from the future. Now her son, John, the future leader of the resistance, is the target for a newer, more deadly terminator. Once again, the resistance has managed to send a protector back to attempt to save John and his mother Sarah.
Interview: closeup of 'sarah' reflects the desecration in her face of her trying to convince herself and prove herself to them that she has changed and she has improved. This suggests the vulnerability of the character. The use of the canted angle suggests the imbalance and instability of 'sarah'. The clothes she has been forced to wear is a long, white gown which is normally associated with the old and frail and therefore suggest that where she is "mental institute" they associate the patients as a vegetable.
The Escape: the use of the high shot between john and the "father figure" could reflect the idea that he looks up to him as father (which he doesn't have) The use of black and white is used throughout which could reflect the contrast between right and wrong. The use of the low angle used for the carer us used to convey intimidation and the mocking tone of the career licking her face, which could resemble how helpless 'sarah' is as she is tied down. The dark shadow across 'sarah's face only allowing some features to be shown could resemble the suspense of the character, but also the different sides to the person for example black reflecting dark and evil and the non shadow reflecting the innocence. The use of the mirror reflection reflects the tense atmosphere and the uneasiness. All the people working at the institute wear white basic clothing with white clothing we associate doctors and dentists etc, and therefore should be trustworthy whereas in the film the contrast between the lack of trustworthiness and punishment. The use of black and white throughout resembles cold colours which resembles the fear and isolation 'sarah' is experiencing. The contrast between the clothing 'sarah' is wearing between the dress and the the sudden change into trousers and a vest suggest the juxtaposition between her personality (boyish) and what is expected (she is a girl) The low angle shot reflects the idea of the struggle for the career as reaching for the gun. The light is positioned as if the lighting is showing the way to freedom. The high angle shot between 'sarah' and the 'man' reflects the trust between them as she was previously frightened of him as before he was the bad guy.
