We then looked at Flora Cuisine advert featuring Veron Kay
We was able to analysis the advert using denotation and connotation;
LOCATION AND SETTING:
The "Mum" is the main focus within the advert as she is always portrayed within the scene or is her view prospectus this could resemble that a mother is always in control. The scene is set in the kitchen this is normally referred to as the heart of the home (religious connotations) (referring to religious reasons for eating for example Italian nature to want to feed family and guests) and a woman's home. The idea of vernon sitting down reflects the idea of the "Mum" being the main focus as she is standing up this could refere to the idea of the importance of a mother and how it is in her nature to want to feed her son even though he has his own kids and has now grown up.
COSTUMES AND MAKEUP:
The "Mum" has been put in a casual jumper and jeans, the jumper looks soft, cosy and comforting and could resemble her personality as a mum. the colour of the jumper is pink and therefore suggests the mum is femine and subtle. Whereas Veron has been put in a blue denim shirt and jeans which is always soft and comfortable. The juxtaposition between the mums pink jumper and vernons blue shirt can be viewed as the idea of gender representation, and how colour's can be classed as femine or masculine.
PROPS:
Flora Cuisine Butter cooking in the pan is the main prop throughout the scenes as this is the product they are trying to promote. the kitchen that is portrayed in the scenes are full of pans, plants and organic/healthy food this could represent that it is a family kitchen and home cooking is regularly done. the idea of having plants and organic growth scattered around the kitchen could be promoting healthy eating as the product itself its 45% less than ordinary butter. with the idea of a lot of pots and pans it would represent the idea that the family is very family oriented and the natural surroundings suggest the fruit and grown contrasting with mother and son.
LIGHTING AND COLOUR:
The sun is constantly coming through the window in the left hand corner of the scene which is where the mum is always situated this could resemble the idea because she is the consumer of the product she is "the star of the show" because she is the one using it she is englightened by its "powers" the cross referencing from the colours of the peppers and other healthy food portrayed though out the advert promotes the idea of healthy eating by using the bright and attractive fruit/vegetables.

We was also given this advert to analysis using denotation and connotation-
the font used for "ETERNITY" is sans sari ff which is the font used for more of a informal advert, letter etc. the name of the perfume is written in capital letters across the top section of the advert this is the immediate part of the advert you first look at as it is a main attraction, the letters are also thing and could reflect the idea of subtle and femine aiming at the specific target audience - women. The woman carrying the child in the advert is portrayed as a mother figure. she is smiling and is happy and could resemble that there is no age range for this perfume as two separate age ranges are considered within the advert. The background location is in the countryside this reflects the idea of nature - flowers,peaceful,femine and free this could also resemble the idea of escapism. The advert is in black and white this could reflect the idea of memories and how they can come and go. The relationship between the mother and daughter is reinforcing the relationship and how close mother and daughters can be. The idea of hertiage is combined with the advert as it shows to generations this could come from the idea of passing down the smell which also backs up the idea of there is no age group or social class with reflects the idea of the informal font.
We all shared our ideas from the adverts and combined the ideas to come to a combined analysis of the advert.
